Products Description of Dicyandiamide CAS#461-58-5

Dicyandiamide, also known as cyanoguanidine or DCDA, is a white crystalline powder, having a molecular formula of C2H4N4 and a molecular weight of 84.08. It melts at approximately 208-211 degrees C and shows a density of about 1.40 g/cm3. The compound is sparingly soluble in cold water and ethanol, dissolves well in hot water, acetone and liquid ammonia, and is almost insoluble in ether, benzene and chloroform. It remains stable under dry storage conditions, while its aqueous solution slowly decomposes with ammonia release above 80 degrees C.

As a versatile organic intermediate, dicyandiamide is widely used in the production of amino resins, melamine, epoxy curing agents, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and flame retardants. It should be packed in sealed bags lined with PE film and stored in a dry, ventilated and cool place, protected from moisture.
