Products Description of Tolylene-2,4-diisocyanate CAS#584-84-9

Tolylene-2,4-diisocyanate, usually referred to as 2,4-TDI, is a colourless, clear liquid at ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure. This chemical is moisture-sensitive and reacts readily with water. While it maintains reasonable stability under suitable conditions, hydrolysis will occur upon contact with moisture.

For the preservation of product quality and stability, 2,4-TDI shall be kept in a cool, dry and adequately ventilated storage area, shielded from direct sunlight and humidity sources.

Product Application of Tolylene-2,4-diisocyanate CAS#584-84-9

2,4-TDI is a core monomer for polyurethane synthesis. It is mainly applied to produce flexible polyurethane foams, which are widely used in furniture cushions, mattresses, automotive seating and carpet underlay. It also serves as a key raw material for polyurethane elastomers, coatings, adhesives and sealants.

The finished elastomers feature excellent wear resistance and mechanical strength, suitable for rollers, gaskets and shoe soles. It can be used to prepare moisture-curable coatings and prepolymers for wood, concrete and metal protection. In addition, it works as a cross-linking agent in polymer modification and is widely used in polyurethane-related formulation industries under strictly controlled operating conditions.
