Product Description of Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene CAS#9002-88-4

Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) is linear polyethylene featuring molecular weights between 1.5 million and above 7 million. This special thermoplastic polyethylene variant is also referred to as high-modulus polyethylene.

UHMWPE boasts strength roughly 15 times that of conventional steel, paired with exceptional wear resistance, self-lubricating performance and impact resistance. Its extraordinarily long molecular chains strengthen intermolecular forces and allow more effective load transfer along the polymer main chain. This delivers remarkable toughness and grants it the top impact strength among all thermoplastics.

Combining light weight and extraordinary mechanical strength, it is vividly characterized as “thin as paper yet hard as steel”. For this reason, UHMWPE is classified as one of the three primary high-performance fibers.

Product Advantages of  Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene CAS#9002-88-4

Outstanding Wear Resistance: UHMWPE offers superior abrasion resistance compared with other plastics, with wear performance several to dozens of times higher than ordinary carbon steel and significantly better than conventional polyethylene.

Exceptional Impact Resistance: It provides excellent shock absorption capability and outstanding impact resistance, surpassing that of carbon fiber and aramid fiber materials.

High Specific Strength and Lightweight Characteristics: As a high-performance fiber material, UHMWPE features an excellent strength-to-weight ratio combined with low density, delivering strong performance while remaining lightweight.

Excellent Chemical Stability: UHMWPE demonstrates outstanding chemical inertness and can resist almost all strong acids, strong alkalis, and organic solvents, except for strong oxidizing acids.

Self-Lubricating and Biocompatible Properties: With an extremely low coefficient of friction, UHMWPE is self-lubricating, non-toxic, odorless, and offers excellent biocompatibility.
